Samkar Bike and Boat  The southern lakes surrounds are quiet, much less crowded and have excellent trails to take your bikes into, and the scenery is stunning. Staying at Samka village, with its couple of small lodges or at the more luxurious Inle Sanctuary Lodge, can be a good base to do some serious biking in the area. One can do a bike and boat and cross over into the other side of the lake to do some riding too. Samkar Bike and Boat

Taunggyi Downhill Track  Taunggyi is situated in a much more steeper hillside and offers excellent uphill riding, and of course downhilling possibilities, specially in the newly constructed flowy DH race track from the top of the hill to the town. A good ride of course can be the 30 kms to Nyaungshwe, again done at sunset, with Inle lake views and a western facing slope, it can be a wonderful experience. More experienced riders for the Taunggyi area.  

View point to Kalaw  Drive up to the Viewpoint using a van where you can put your bike on the back. After enjoying the view from the famous Kalaw viewpoint, and perhaps enjoying a snack at the Nepalese restaurant there, get on your bike to ride the jeep trail back to town. Short and sweet. Sweeter than Honey | Thatyetphu to Nyaungshwe    Sweeter Than Honey

Lost in Kalaw  A meandering ride of moderate difficulty through the pine forests under the tower in Kalaw and this turns back using the train tracks and a single track besides it back into town. A wonderful way to get a view of the town, and enjoy the surrounds, in a short easy ride. Lost In Kalaw

Enduro Heaven | Kalaw to Indein  If your tastes is a bit more technical and you like riding downhill through flowing single trails and jeep trails, then the ride from Kalaw to Indein Junction is excellent, as you do about 50 kms of true fun, going through villages, forests, trekking trails, and then hitting a really sweet flowing downhill all the way with the view of Inle Lake constantly. Bike and Boat Adventure  This approximately 30 km ride includes the single-trails and jeep trails east of the lake and then drop down to Maing Thauk, a boat across to Khaung Daing and then riding back to Nyaungshwe. Perfect for timing sunset with the boat ride. Companies offer variations of this, using kayaks to tour the village. Bike and Boat Adventure

Lost in Nyaungshwe  The simplest of all rides is probably riding up to the Wineries of Red Mountain, sample some wine and wander back into town, using the main road or a single track that can be bring you back. This ride was also used on the 15 kms stretch of the InleByCycle Mass ride. Wine and cycling not recommended of course. Many other rides are possible out of Nyaungshwe, including the longer day rides from Taunggyi, from Kalaw to Indain or the ThatyetPhu to Nyaungshwe rides. Lost In Nyaung Shwe
